The San Damiano Cross
This is the large cross that St Francis was praying before when he received the commission from the Lord to rebuild His Church. The original cross hangs in the Basilica of Saint Clare in Assisi.

The crucifixion wounds of Christ. St Francis was the first person to bear the wound of Christ.

Provincial Minister
The Provincial Minister is the leader of a Province, and is elected by the fraternity for a six-year term. He may be re-elected for an additional three years for a total of nine years in that position.

Provincial Vicar
The Provincial Vicar assists the Provincial Minister. He is elected for a six-year term and may be re-elected for an additional three years..


Provincial Definitory (or Council)
The Definitory is the executive committee for a Province and is made up of five friars who are elected for a three year term. They meet on a regular basis. The manner of leadership is described as fraternal and consultative. Decisions are made by consensus.
