What has been happening recently in the Franciscan Province of the
Holy Spirit?
The Province’s first friar from Samoa, Iose Ale was ordained in
Auckland on 2nd December.
Our novices, Matthew Hufer and Paul Booth received the Franciscan
habit on 8th December. They are both at the Franciscan
Friary in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland.
Robert Matthews returns to Melbourne in late December after
attending the Franciscan Challenge course in Rome and Assisi.
There are new parish priests in:
Riverside (Tas) - Peter Fraser
Kedron (Qld) - John Boyd-Boland
Manegre Bridge (NZ) - Ken Cafe
Paul Rout who has been lecturing at Yarra Theological Union, Box
Hill (Vic) after a short sabbatical, will be joining the Faculty at
Heythrop College, University of London.
Joining the Minto (Sydney) community for a short time is George
Boggs. He will be investigating the possibility of setting up another
community, possibly in the Cabramatta area of Sydney’s western
suburbs.
Peter Cantwell will be in Ireland next year as Visitator - General
of the Irish Province.
Final preparations are underway for the beginning of a significant
building program at St Anthony Church and Friary in Singapore.
Anthony McNeill, a friar from the English Province arrives early
2002; he will be teaching at Padua College in Kedron.
