The Franciscans, inspired by St Francis’ love of nature and his crossing of the battlelines of the Crusade to meet the Sultan, work internationally and locally to heal broken relationships. We do this by reaching out to understand others, standing with the poor and the powerless and speaking up for those who have no voice. Franciscans see all of God’s creation as part of God’s family – we are all brothers and sisters.

Secular Franciscan Order
The Franciscan Friars are part of the broader Franciscan family of religious and lay people. The Secular Franciscans are lay people, inspired by the life of St Francis of Assisi, who commit themselves to live the Gospel in the world through their daily life. The Franciscan Friars act as spiritual assistants to the Secular Franciscan fraternities across Australia and New Zealand. As a spiritual assistant they share their reflections on the Gospel and insights from the Franciscan spiritual, theological and historical tradition. Find out more.

Franciscans International is the voice of the Franciscan Family at the UN, advocating and protecting those often left without a voice when important decisions are made affecting them.
